This program investigates the biodiversity of the ecosystem surrounding Hinze Dam, with a focus on the data collection associated with Unit 3: Biodiversity and the Interconnectedness of Life and IA2: Student experiment
Students use industry standard equipment and techniques to collect primary biotic and abiotic field data on a variety of forest types in the Numinbah Valley area, including between spatially variant ecosystems of the same classification. The data collected can be analysed to understand concepts of abiotic–biotic relationships, determine species diversity of a group of organisms and classify an ecosystem, with a focus on Stratified Sampling, Simpson's Diversity Index and Specht's classification system.
Either day of the camp can be chosen as a day visit program, with day 2 focussing on IA2 data collection.
