We have formed a range of partnerships & mentor connections with community and environmental organisations to support our learning programs & centre operations.

Our centre recognises that environmental education is a lifelong process and that in addition to educating students, we also have a key role in informing the wider community about environmental and sustainability issues.

We are open to exploring opportunities connected with:

-       Environmental and Conservation projects;

-       Community and Education events, conferences and other forums;

-       Volunteering networks;

-       Consultation and Mentoring.

Numinbah Valley Environmental Education Centre first established a Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association in 2012 to encourage active and open engagement with our local community. A key role of the Centre's P&C is to act as a representative body for funding applications and to serve as a lobby group for possible centre improvements.

Through our P&C, we have conducted Community Open Days to maximise knowledge and awareness of our Centre's educational programs and operations.  We have helped host networking events that provide an opportunity for guest speakers to talk on a variety of important environmental issues. An active volunteer network is maintained to keep people connected to projects we're engaged with and to strengthen relationships within the community.

One of our biggest achievements has been to secure community grants to undertake significant habitat restoration projects. Between 2020-2022 we secured $90,000 in Landcare Australia and WIRES grants for our 'Numinbah – Holding Tight' project to develop & strengthen wildlife corridors between Lamington and Springbrook National Parks. In Kombumerri language, Numinbah means to 'hold tight' in reference to being a valley holding two significant mountains together.

Our conservation projects provide high school students, local community members, and volunteers an opportunity to participate in and learn about the importance and positive impact of habitat restoration programs, while contributing to maintaining the biodiversity of areas with significant cultural and ecological values.

In 2022, were announced as Queensland P&C of the Year Award Winners!
