'IA2: Local Land Cover Transformations' Program
My Year 12 students and I recently had the opportunity to participate in senior geography data collection activities facilitated by Numinbah Valley Environmental Education Centre. The centre offered a comprehensive suite of services that significantly enhanced our educational outing. From the moment we arrived, the NVEEC team were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Their passion for environmental education was evident, and their extensive knowledge about the local ecology and geography greatly enriched students' learning experiences. The activities were well-organised, with a clear structure that allowed us to maximise our time efficiently. The program was thoughtfully designed to cater to senior geographers, balancing theoretical learning with practical data collection exercises. Each segment of the day was planned well and adapted due to the threat of rain. The centre provided all the necessary equipment for data collection, from geographical instruments to data sheets, which made the entire process smooth and hassle-free. The gear was in excellent condition and easy to use, which was particularly beneficial for my students due to their lack of experience. The two field sites were well chosen and allowed first-hand observations and measurements of the significant weed issues of the area. Numinbah Valley Environmental Education Centre fostered a supportive environment that encouraged curiosity and engagement. They facilitated discussions and impromptu Q&A sessions that promoted critical thinking. I highly recommend this centre to any educational group seeking high-quality, hands-on learning experiences.

'For IA2 Field Investigation – I come to NVEEC as their weeds infestation (Lantana) program based on the weed invasion triangle, is excellent. The students look at two sites – the first, which demonstrates the exemplar site of the same Regional Ecosystem as the infested site. Then students go on to the lantana infested site (via canoe) to see the impact of land clearing and subsequent consequences of weeds due to neglect. In both sites students carry out a detailed investigation that includes using professional equipment to gather data, as well as a variety of observational data gathering activities. The experienced staff from NVEEC are able to explain the contrasts in the sites and how the different attributes of lantana make it a true predator of the plant world. The data gathered is comprehensive and allows the students to have opportunities to thoroughly analyse the issues in their assessment and subsequently come up with detailed and appropriate proposals. I recommend this program highly to any school wanting to provide an in depth investigation for their Year 12 students.'

'IA2: Biodiversity and the Interconnectedness of Life' Program
'The students thoroughly enjoyed their experience, the accommodation was clean, the food ample, the students loved the program (the Twin Falls circuit prior to their data collection) and also the free time down by the volleyball court. The program was well organised with informative instructors who supported them in their IA2. The staff were also flexible in accommodating different requests, for example, an earlier departure to visit the Hinze dam and visiting the animal house. The resources provided were also helpful for students when completing their IA2. Assessments are yet to be confirmed, however the students performed extremely well in this task following the camp and we're hoping to return next year.'

'Environmental Change and Management' Program
'This program offers a comprehensive study of the upper catchment for the Nerang River. I have been doing this program with NVEEC for 5-6 years and each time my Year 10 students have been able to engage with understanding a variety of issues in terms of land use that impacts the Nerang River. The teaching staff from NVEEC are very experienced and their knowledge of the region is invaluable in terms of telling the bigger story of the catchment. Students are able to complete water testing using professional instruments and gain an understanding of the different pollution issues that affect the Nerang River, as well as how this can be mitigated. They visit a wide variety of sites – from cleared farming land to pristine rainforest – that highlight the contrasts in land use and water quality. I highly recommend this program for any school that is looking to work with professional staff and a top educational program.'

'Landscapes and Landforms' Program
'I most valued the outdoor classroom experience that the Numinbah Valley EEC offered, blending real-world learning with the integration of local geological and biological history and Indigenous knowledge for my Year 8 students. The expertise of your teachers, truly brought the classroom theory to life amidst the stunning Springbrook National Park's ecosystems.'

'Burleigh Coastal Study' Program
'Preparation for the excursion was easy as I was provided with all the resources I needed to get the program off the ground. The NVEEC team were extremely communicative and made the program tailored to the needs of my class. The team was incredibly knowledgeable, bringing the concepts our students had previously learned in class to life in a clear and engaging way.'

'Energy Trailer' Program
Year 8 Students loved being able to experience the transfers and transformations of energy, and doing this outside of a traditional classroom setting further increased student engagement. Staff were fantastic – very knowledgeable, and having them on hand made behaviour management for staff a breeze. Organising the trailer was a really easy process. This program was a great use of our science budget to get students engaging with energy!

'Day on Country' Program
'Year 3's at our school were immersed in an excellent outdoor learning experience during their 'Day on Country' program. Not only were the activities varied and engaging but NVEEC staff displayed both a deep knowledge and love for the day's content. The purpose and strength of yarning circles, traditional Indigenous games and connection to Country were highlights for our group. We left feeling uplifted. An excellent experience.'
Lyn – Year 3 Teacher
'This week has been a real highlight as I've come out to the centre on three different days to support children from our school. I can honestly say that I loved every minute of your program. The children were all engaged and enthusiastic about every activity they participated in and every child took something slightly different away with them. I loved the hands on experience provided for the children and how they were entrusted to do things the majority have never seen or done before. Most of all, the children got to be “kids" and learn about First Nations culture and traditions in a fun, engaging and safe manner. Can't wait to come back next year. Your team are masters at their jobs!'

'Leadership Development' Program
'Numinbah Valley Environmental Education Centre provided our Year 5 and 6 students with an outstanding Leadership Day that elevated their leadership skills and personal growth. The day was designed to challenge students and align with their goals in the personal and social capability continuum, cultivating an increased sense of resilience, cooperation, and confidence. Each activity was contextualised, offering students real-world applications that demonstrated the value of effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving in leadership. The supportive environment encouraged them to push their boundaries while feeling supported and encouraged. Our students left the day feeling empowered, motivated, and equipped with valuable skills they can use both in school and in the real life. We're grateful to Numinbah Valley Environmental Education Centre for such a great experience!'
