An investigation of a historic land site on the banks of the Hinze Dam which has undergone generations of land cover transformations that has resulted in a Lantana infestation and local environmental hazard.
Students collect primary biotic data, enabling comparison to state-wide benchmarks and evaluation of the terrestrial biodiversity of the site. Further abiotic and invader species data collection enables analysis and evaluation of their conceptual model (Invasion Triangle) to propose management strategies and recommend sustainable solutions to improve the biodiversity of the invaded site.
