Biology Forest Comparison

WebPartZone1_1
PublishingPageContent

This program investigates the biodiversity of the ecosystem surrounding Hinze Dam, with a focus on the subject matter, mandatory practicals and suggested practicals associated with Unit 3: Biodiversity and the Interconnectedness of Life.

Students use industry standard equipment and techniques to collect primary biotic and abiotic field data on a variety of forest types in the Springbrook / Numinbah Valley area, including between spatially variant ecosystems of the same classification.  The data collected can be analysed to understand concepts of abiotic–biotic relationships, determine species diversity of a group of organisms and classify an ecosystem, with a focus on Stratified Sampling, Simpson's Diversity Index and Specht's classification system.

Either day of the camp can be chosen as a day visit program.
