At NVEEC, we acknowledge the Kombumerri people, Traditional Custodians of this jagun (land), and recognise their continuing connection to Country within the wider Yugambeh Language Region. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and honour the knowledge, stories and stewardship that have cared for this place for countless generations.
We believe that environmental education is strengthened when students learn to understand, connect and grow through diverse perspectives. By engaging with First Nations knowledge systems and connections to Country, students develop a deeper appreciation of culture, community and environment, while building the respect and understanding needed to contribute positively to reconciliation.
Working in partnership with First Nations cultural mentors and community members, we create opportunities for students to learn from living culture, reflect on their own connections to place and consider how they can apply their learning as responsible citizens and future leaders.
Our commitment is embedded across the centre through ongoing consultation, shared learning and our active Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Together, these actions help ensure reconciliation is not simply something we discuss, but something we practise through meaningful relationships, learning and action.
