In this learning activity, students slow down in pace for a while to boil a billy, have a yarn and cook their own damper over an open fire. This activity provides a chance for students to experience what life was like yesteryear and try cooking methods and ingredients that may be new to them. The challenge of working around fire in a small group, while remaining safe and completing a set goal, is a chance to practice their Personal and Social capability skills, in particular the areas of Self-Management and Social Management.
